Here are three things you need to do first when starting on the winding road of Small Business Social Media Marketing.

First: Choose your social media channels. Find out where and when your target audience spends their time online and sign up for those channels first. Start by only picking one or two channels to begin, you don’t want to overwhelm yourself. Spend at least 10 minutes a day posting and interacting on these social channels. Tip: To save time, automate posts when you can.

Second: Make sure to fill in the profile information completely and link to your other social channels when you can. Its a good idea to incorporate your companies logo and brand color so you are easily recognizable. Tip: Always link back to your website on your profile and in your posts.

Third: Post relevant content. If you are a bakery post pictures of your cupcakes, quotes about food, coupons, interviews of top bakers etc.  When you write copy make sure you write like you would talk. Try and write something interesting in the post instead of always reusing the title of the article. Tip: Use images to catch the attention of readers.
